Breakfast is served… in the middle of the African bush!

13.08.21

There’s little better than starting the day with a full English breakfast when you’re on holiday, but served in the middle of the African bush after a once-in-a-lifetime hot air balloon safari? Now we’re talking.

There truly is no comparison to breakfast served under the sweeping canopy of an acacia in the middle of the Serengeti plains. Here’s what you can expect from your breakfast in the African bush.

Where do we dine for breakfast?

The best part about our breakfasts in the bush is the location – we never know where we’re going to dine until we depart! Due to the winds on the day, our pilots work out the best route to take flight, and this means landing somewhere different each time.

The Winds have welcomed you with softness. The Sun has blessed you with its warm hands....

It’s a little tradition of ours to toast the flight with bubbly, so once we’ve landed in the chosen spot, we pop the champagne for a celebration. If you’re also celebrating a special occasion, we’ll raise our glasses to that too.

From there, we walk or drive a short distance to the chosen breakfast spot where each balloon group will have its own table beautifully set up in 'Out of Africa' style under a tree, complete with fresh linen, Sheffield cutlery and bone china.

After a busy morning, you will also be offered the opportunity to wash your hands from jugs of fresh warm water before you eat.

What’s on the menu?

Our breakfasts are served using delicious, locally sourced ingredients. Cooked right there in the bush, the food is as fresh as can be – and with vegan and vegetarian options also available, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Our breakfasts include:

  • Mango juice
  • More bubbly
  • Tea and coffee
  • Freshly baked bread rolls
  • Fresh fruit
  • Scrambled eggs
  • Bacon
  • Sausage
  • Fried tomatoes
  • Grilled mushrooms
  • Grilled potatoes
  • Baked beans.

What happens next?

Breakfast in the bush is the perfect time to ask the pilots any questions you may have. They are the most experienced and knowledgeable in Tanzania, full of information about the Serengeti area, its fascinating history, beautiful wildlife and stunning ecosystems.

Our pilots love sharing their knowledge with our guests and will be more than happy to answer your questions and share their wisdom and experiences with you while you dine. They’ll also award you with your own flight certificate after breakfast, to prove what you’ve done this morning if you are still pinch-yourself disbelieving!

While enjoying your food, you can also relive your own experience of the balloon safari with your fellow passengers and share stories amongst other guests. It’s a great opportunity to really absorb the moment while also taking in the stunning scenery from the ground after your remarkable flight.

We hope you enjoy your breakfast in the bush as much as we enjoy serving it. Karibu chakula!
